That is a feature. You don't want your mobile device frivolously syncing every single file that gets changed. Most don't even have the capacity to hold all your Dropbox quota.

Selective sync picks folders. Obviously I would be able to set it to wifi only. Or maybe someone could spend a day adding hourly sync instead of continuous.

In short, a lack of the core feature is definitely not a feature.
