Not sure if it's better or worse than most of the other parasocial pseudo-relationships people have online. I mean following podcasters, influencers, etc. (and worse).

in some ways it might actually be better, if only because para-social relationships with actual people have led to them (the para-celebrity, for lack of a better word) getting hurt
