Ask HN: Bluehost Is Down yet Again

I have been extremely disappointed with Bluehost's hosting service, which has been down since last Friday. As a paying customer, I expect better uptime and reliability than this. Their service level agreement (SLA) promises 24/7 uptime, which they have clearly failed to deliver on.

My website has been completely inaccessible to visitors for several days now. This is unacceptable and is costing me business. Their technical support has also been slow to respond and unhelpful in getting my site back online.

Overall, I would not recommend Bluehost to other small business owners looking for a reliable web host. The lengthy downtime I have experienced shows that they do not have the infrastructure or customer service required to run a professional web hosting company. For a service that is supposed to be online around the clock, ongoing days of downtime is a deal-breaker.

Can anyone suggest good alternatives that are not owned by BlueHost parent company?

I've been happy for years using Digital Ocean.

There's Linode, OVH, hostinger, namecheap all suppose to be good.

I'm not sure if any of those are a parent company. YRMV.

Good luck!

I work for GoDaddy. I would suggest GoDaddy.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just moved over some domains from Bluehost to GoDaddy. It was painful to get the Authorization codes. The verbiage is so threatening on move emails ( ie. you will lose this, we will delete that). It's as if they want to strike fear into their customers to move. Well it did do the trick, it scared me into anything but them.
