Came here to say that I still haven't forgiven them for making Pokémon Go an Ingress clone, thanks for providing a comment to attach this to :)

It still baffles me: the rounds-based fighting mechanics were one of the two pillars of Pokémon gameplay, they were intuitive and a perfect fit for mobile, despite having depth, they'd been refined and balanced for years - why on earth replace that with something else (and something quite shallow, I'd say)?

But then again, the game was wildly successful, so maybe it was just right for a different audience.
