How about you dial it back a bit, eh?

Oh. In that case the energy waste, the scams, the ransomware, etc. are not harms arising from cryptocurrencies, but merely a special case of the harm arising from computers. I mean, I was keeping the two disconnected in favor of computers, but if you want to lump them together then by all means do so.
We live in now, heavily due to cryptocurrencies.
>It doesn't make sense to blame cryptocurrencies for that
Of course it does. They've radically changed the incentives and barriers to entry. Ransomware is not feasible to do the way it is now without cryptocurrencies. Ransomware is done for the ransom, if there wasn't any way to get money out of it then it wouldn't be big business, and if it wasn't big business it'd be a vastly smaller (or nonexistent) threat for most organizations. Sorry if you don't like that obvious fact.
You've repeatedly tried to weasel around the radical difference between historic backup threat scenarios (hardware failure, software bugs, human mistakes, data rot, natural disasters) vs profit driven hostile actors. Cut it out.
>That, in balance, computers are much more valuable than cryptocurrencies is a matter of opinion
Oh bullshit. Suggesting there is even the most vague, slightest subjectivity there is so ludicrous it's not even worth bothering with, least because cryptocurrencies are impossible without computers which means by definition any value they offer is a subset of the value of computers.
