This is completely insane and only reinforces my belief that this technology is a net negative for society.

As a programmer, I get paid huge amounts of money to automate tasks that others or myself would normally do.

Sure, but we should only automate the tasks that are of net benefit to society. Automating robocalls freed up lots of schmucks from having to manually bother people all day. But that didn't make the world better. It made it worse.
