Car-sharing and ride-sharing exist now in addition to public transit. Vehicles can exist without personal ownership of one.

Yeah, I totally agree rentals exist. Maybe it is a semantics difference with what a post-car society means to people.

To me, it does not imply using a car as much as I do now and simply paying more to rent instead of owning.
