I'm probably one of those IRC users/haters. The hate was not baseless and here is why:

(A)

Can you spot any cultural differences that could potentially put people off? user2 reveals themselves, no need to say much here. Such a communication style was perceived negatively because it reflects a low level of education.

Of course, more educated folks spoke normally and nobody knew their skin color. However, nobody liked speaking to folks like user2.

In other words, if you received hate it was probably something you did. I literally cannot fathom the idea that something was wrong was us.
