With respect, do you think using acronyms without explanation makes you look smart?

Because it doesn't. It just makes you look unprofessional.

In medicine, one of the first things we learned is that you always expand the acronym the first time you use it in print. This goes for everything. Everyone knows what S. marcescens is, but you're still a complete asshole if you don't spell out Serratia marcescens the first time.

This is the difference between true professionals and whomever wrote this garbage.

This is a git repo, not a published paper. Hacker news is not a published journal. It's a casual space for technically oriented people.
