Why bother making all that money if you're not going to do anything with it? When all's said and done you're going to be just as dead.
People who know how to save money on the big stuff and spend money in the places where it gives a high return on joy are the ones doing it right. "It's your duty to be miserable because you're poor" is the most backwards attitude imaginable.
