In order to "make the tapes", these models will have to solve the much more general problem of reasoning, modeling human cognition, etc. It would be the last problem and a signal of the end of humanity.

I'm less worried about artists' livelihoods at this point; after this problem is solved we'd all become obsolete and just be killed off.
