It’s fairly well implied the original statement was related to tech jobs, not just any job, in SF.

Please do the same. My response can basically be read as...

Someone: "I don't think that the average SF salary is $100k."

Me: "You'd be surprised!"

... because I didn't know the answer to that either and found it interesting. That's it, basically.
