I gotta also mention that I have an AZERTY keyboard.
The AZERTY keyboard is a standard mapping.
The QWERTY Keyboard has a slightly odd mapping for the shift key indeed. Likewise, US laptops might have slightly more crapware /w Windows that I had (?)
