That reminds me of a book I had in the early days of the web which contained a list of the websites at the time!

How about a list of all the email addresses in the world?

Yahoo was hand curated in the early days. Wildest timeline.
Yup! My best friend growing up used to report typos and would send copy corrections and stuff to them back during those days.
So crazy to think about that all being done by hand back then.
“The Internet Yellow Pages.” You weren’t the only one to have it.
A former coworker wrote that book. When it came out he had a little party where he declared it obsolete already.
Reminds me of the old quip "how do you know if the spec requirements are out of date?" - the ink is dry.
That's funny, I love that.

"The Network Information Service (NIS) was formerly known as Sun Yellow Pages (YP). The functionality of the two remains the same; only the name has changed. The name Yellow Pages is a registered trademark in the United Kingdom of British Telecommunications PLC, and cannot be used without permission."
I remember seeing those address books in my university c.s library back in '07.
Many a late night was spent in the library looking up those addresses and seeing if some where still available.
