Re:Truth as Transcendental: Ontological Foundations by motohagiography on Friday October 22, 2021 @11:06PM (#28965332)
Question I would ask is, while I agree (aesthetically) with what I think his position is - when he sets up logical vs. ontological truth as competing models of reality, is he not setting ontological truth as "real reality," and then logical truth as "reality prime," as in, he has set up a figure/ground relationship that favours ontological truth, but appears to be arguing as though he is weighing them as complementary?

Maybe he's still setting it up after the halfway point? I don't disagree with him about the necessary conditions for transcendental truth, but the form of his argument seems to leave that thread to be tugged on.

I haven't read the article, but logical truth is always "just" axiomatic. You can relate it to empirical reality using e.g. correspondence theory, induction, authoritative texts and other relating methods (ontologies).

An ontology, on the other hand, is the study of what is or in sum what reality is, when understood from the viewpoint of the author. That's its raison d'être.

Perhaps this is relevant? I stopped reading these articles because I'm too rusty.

My first two paragraphs are the subject matter of Aristoteles' the Metaphysics, if anyone asks. Study at your own peril.
