It generated hundreds of comments of discussion on Apple's advertising practices. I don't view it as unsubstantive.

It was snark (which is against the site guidelines) and didn't add any information. That makes it unsubstantive. Please don't post like that to HN.

The comments it generated were mostly not particularly good, and the resulting thread was of lower quality than we're trying for here.
