Most anyone on Hacker News should consider all of amateur radio. Morse Code is no longer needed for a license and it opens many more possibilities especially for disaster communications.

Those in the Bay Area should check out "The San Francisco Radio Club ( 1916 - 2020 ) Celeb rating 104 Years serving the city of San Francisco & the Community" < https://www.sfarc.org/ > They are a great bunch and are, as one would expect, very knowledgeable.

Once you’ve been hamming for awhile, you might try cw and find out that it’s fun. Talk to the world with a couple of chips, a length of wire, and no computer.

I picked CW up as a pandemic thing and its a blast. Its probably the majority of my on air time now. Never would have thought, since Morse was originally what kept me from the hobby as a kid. Give it a go! 73 DE KN4ZMA
