If I bought a new car and it was faulty due to an extremely improbable interaction with my particular driveway, such that it blew up when I got it home, it is unlikely I would swear off vehicles. In fact, I'm not sure that doing so would even occur to me. I wonder what it is, that causes us to happily (and correctly) shrug off some incredibly unlikely scenarios without generalizing them as if it were evidence of some law applicable to our individual lives, while in other cases, it's hard to resist treating it like a divine portent.
