Depends what sort of work you're doing, but it's really not that hard and personally I find it great for focus (maybe it's like old school writers banging out a novel on a Remington). I've got at least half a dozen 386's and 486's that run DOS (diskless) to this day and the lovely thing is the lack of distraction.
