For NLP, the famous Alice is from 1995 and ELIZA is from 1960s. You can easily have 8 years of experience in this area.

It doesn't matter how simple it was. For its time, that was the state of art as far as I can tell.

There's lots of things invented decades ago that would be a parlor trick today.
