Offer HN: I'll help you understand your startup offer

Hi HN,

I can help look at your job offer and help you model and think about how much money your equity might be worth.

Background

----------

I have been working for startups for > 10 years now in various engineering roles. I help my friends, especially ones who work in larger companies answer the question, `Is this offer good?`

I am constantly surprised by how less engineers understand startup equity and how to think about their offers.

I see engineers joining startups for extremely low value equity and also see engineers reject amazing startup offers because they value equity wrong( Recently, someone thought their equity is too low because, they just did number_of_shares*409A valuation)

I am doing this just to help some engineers. I don't need payment etc. Just play it forward :)

What was their mistake? 1 - they weren't factoring in the profit on their strike price?

2 - they forgot that Fair Market Value ideally goes up through each round?

3- I'm missing something
