LocalCDN (Firefox Extension) solves the performance issue on the client side, i assume:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/localcdn-fork...

https://codeberg.org/nobody/LocalCDN/src/branch/main/resourc...

(and adds extra privacy as a bonus.)

There is this tried-and-true extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/decentraleyes...

LocalCDN seems to be a fork of it, why should we be using it when it has so few users?

Does Decentraleyes cache fonts? Last I looked into it (b/c this extension makes using the web less broken from China) they didn't cache fonts:

https://github.com/Synzvato/decentraleyes/issues/34

However maybe the situation has changed since then..

I seem to remember some consternation not long ago when Decentraleyes reducing the amount of caching they do because it could be used for fingerprinting...? Can't find any reference to this on Google though

Why?

The development of Decentraleyes seems to have slowed down considerably, and LocalCDN supports more CDNs / frameworks, and is also opensource.

Decentraleyes is also Recommended by Mozilla, while the other is not.

I tried LocalCDN after seeing a recommendation for it here, but despite claiming to cache more libraries it was very clearly not catching as many requests as DecentralEyes, which I'm back using now

Decentraleyes has very few resources compared to LocalCDN. It doesnt cache the important ones too.

LocalCDN is also under active development, and the dev seems more pro-privacy.

Note that LocalCDN doesn't handle Google Fonts:

Oh right... Google Fonts seem to be blocked (per default LocalCDN settings.)

Keep in mind that this currently breaks SOP/CORS which can break some webpages.
