A solution could be to flag a post as suspicious or even fake news.

Though that will open the floodgates to all sorts of scrutiny that I think won’t help.

So a post like yours seems to be a good enough solution for the problem.

That's right. I believe the solution is for people to develop and apply their critical thinking. It's the way to prevent Nayirah testimony, Iraq's WMD or similar from being used as excuses for war again.

Everyone should but how many people have the time to do the geopolitical research unless it hits home?

It wasn't enough in the relatively innocent "good old days of bush", now social media has been weaponized
