Pretty sure this is called whataboutism.

Just because some other places are worse

A) Doesn't mean some are better in this regard.

B) Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make it better here.

Individuals have more rights in the USA than almost every country on earth. EU is maybe stronger.

As you deviate from that list, the list of "rights" rapidly peters out.
