"The moral of the story is: if you’re against witch-hunts, and you promise to found your own little utopian community where witch-hunts will never happen, your new society will end up consisting of approximately three principled civil libertarians and seven zillion witches. It's very young right now, I don't think it's been live much more than a month (?), so is a bit of a ghost town. Unlike the other Reddit clones that have popped up recently (ruqqus, saidit, voat) it is not overrun with right-wing trolls (yet).

I think it's going for a distributed model, like Mastodon, where anyone can run their own instance with their own rules and whatnot.

Seems the right way to go. Decentralize. It separates the "communities" even more, just allows people to host their virtual place.

Voat by any other name
