Is your goal to protect yourself or to protect others? If the latter, the fancy N95 or P100 masks with exhalation vents are of highly dubious value.

Even with the vent, droplets will be drastically reduced if they have to go through that little orifice. If you want to be a good citizen, put a piece of tape over the valve.

Some N95-rated masks don't have an exhaust vent.
