I don't have to worry about some random algorithmic account suspension removing access to my E-mail (and all of my online accounts, since they use my E-mail address for verification). And I don't have to worry about some random algorithmic process determining what E-mails I receive and which ones get silently dropped into a black hole. So far no problems with misconfiguration or other providers dropping my mail--while it probably happens, I think the risk of that is overblown if you configure SPF, DKIM, and so on correctly.
