Unfortunately, it has. The process is now more opaque, and it’s taking longer to get an approval. The number of requests for evidence has increased by close to 40%. There seems to be a deliberate attempt to frustrate legal immigrants out of the US, or at least, it feels like it. This is anecdotal, but I personally know 4 families that threw in the towel and moved to Canada. So, yes, in terms of policy, nothing’s changed, but they have increased the overall level of frustration.
On top of that, this has scared off a lot of companies from even looking at H1-Bs while hiring.

Second that. I am a legal immigrant. Been in US for 5+yrs. Work in a FAANG company. Have a valid work permit (h1b) till 2021. Came back to home country for stamping, now my case is in administrative processing for 4+ months.
House/Job/Child Education, all impacted because of this.

My colleague had to provide the salaries of every employee in the company all the way up to the CEO.
Ours is not a small company. It's a decades old US company, who anyone who can guess 5 companies on the S&P 500 would know of.

Sorry to hear that. Are you still in India waiting for your visa to be processed? Know the reason for administrative processing?

yeah still here. No reason given. Reached out to customer service several times but no conclusive update on (a) why my case is in admin processing (b) how long will it take to get resolved (c) at what status is it currently.
Its just a painful endless wait, which can get over in a few days or in worst case in more than a year

It has. My H1 was denied, although I have worked here for 10 years, and work for a FAANG company.

Ask hospitals in underserved areas. I know of one that had to reject many candidates. American doctors refuse to work in Detroit. They also refuse to work in any specialty where hours are tough.

There has been a massive increase in RFE's. Premium processing has mostly gone away, leading to massive delays. And renewals are being denied, even for people who have gone through the PERM process for a green card.
It is fair to call this increased scrutiny.
Has it? All that has been done is a study of potential H-1B reforms that is still under way. I'd bet that nothing changes in the next two years. The puppet masters wouldn't want it any other way.
