Freedom and secure boot are not mutually exclusive things. The important bit is the ability to enroll your own signing key. See the yellow state in this diagram: https://source.android.com/security/verifiedboot/verified-bo...

…which I don't believe Apple has opened up? Right now it's use Apple's keys for verification, or don't use the feature at all.
