IIRC Reddit's "in" with Conde Nast (who eventually purchased them) was a social networking site targeted at women, owned and branded by CN, with Reddit's tech.

While not exactly like HN, http://reddit.com/r/women/ is about as close as you are going to get I think.

Read that for marketing ideas, but if you want real issues, read this: http://www.reddit.com/r/feminism

Feminists might not fun, but their companionship frees me from the social burden of having to be a gentleman

If we're discussing (arche|stereo)types, then women like to talk more then men (i.e., face-to-face interaction). Therefore, they aren't as likely to spend time on a glorified Internet chat board like HN.
Edit: this reminds, WHY is there no "Hacker News" for women's stuff? Where things like "the sensational new makeup" or whatever can be upvoted and so on? (No offense to women, I am talking about women's magazine readers). In theory women like to talk more than men, yet I am not aware of such a site.
