I find SQL queries (select, insert, delete...) to be fairly friendly. It's kind of like semi-broken English where you fill in the blanks. My first programming language was Python, and SQL queries weren't a big deal, once I knew how to order the clauses.
Though, once you get into more advanced things like stored procedures and triggers, SQL becomes a little hostile.
