You overestimate people's understanding of space. Many people thought "The Martian" was a true story like "Apollo 13".

How many is “many” though? I’m assuming slightly more than thought Star Wars was real, and slightly fewer than think Iron Man was real. That’s not ignorance, that’s mental illness.
