I recommend separating professional/technical advice from ideological veering religious sentiment. Linux users need to realize that lots of the world runs on Windows and developers need to target Windows as a result. The fact that Linux isn't more accessible is a separate problem.

Actually Windows is almost obsolete these days.
Linux dominates the smartphones, servers and the supercomputers.
It's the software development model and the ideological underpinnings that made Linux technically superior, so I'd be careful not to wave them off as some religious nonsense.

It's still the majority in desktop consumer/corporate usage. I develop for all three major platforms and swap between them at home and at work; I truly serve no master here.

Do you also remove the patches Microsoft gives to those projects?

Those patches benefit the whole community
We build upon so much open souce software - Linux, GNU, compilers, editors, servers, and hundreds of libraries.
I use KDE on Ubuntu, and on the rare occasion that it is lacking, a bug report or a patch helps the whole community. All the users, in Ubuntu's statistics, help the KDE developers feel they're doing something worthwhile.
Running Windows and perhaps improving tooling on Windows helps Microsoft, something I refuse to do.
(Equally, I will correct Open Street Map, but not Google Maps.)
