The OP asked if TMux worked on WSL, which it does.

Now, there are many, MANY, improvements required of Windows' Console which is currently receiving its biggest overhaul in > 30 years! Bear with us while we give the Console some much needed TLC and start to re-shape it into a clean Console infrastructure that supports modern Console demands.

I currently have zero issues running tmux and bunch of other software in mintty/wsltty

tmux should have already worked quite well in Anniversary Update (14393). There are some specific feature enhancements, such as 256/24bit color support (although tmux doesn't support 24bit color by default) and mouse mode support that should make tmux much more usable.
