In some countries (like where I live) it's hard to come across US Dollar bills other than 100.

I am an American living in Russia. $100 bills are the only American currency I ever see here.

Unlike in the USA, where $100 bills are very rare and sometimes a hassle to actually use because some shops won't accept them or treat them suspiciously.

It matches my experience in Lebanon, but I was only there briefly as a tourist.

I'm in Ukraine, but I guess it applies to any country without a strong own currency.
