There is one important difference.

The user paid for their cable subscription beforehand.

The user paid for the magazine beforehand.

That is not necessarily true for pirating movies.

Sure, free television and magazines exist. I can get rid of ads in those too.

But they didn't pay the website to view the article. If that's the difference, the ad blocking analogy fails.
