Feels like a fluff article from the former wife of Elon Musk.

Don't know if there is anything of substance or anything that I could apply to myself.

I don't think it's fluff, it describes the man (in fairly unflattering light imo).

Of course there is nothing applicable to you, you are (likely) not an extreme person like Musk. I don't think the point of the article is to teach you "How you too can be successful, just like Musk", but to shed a light on extreme personality from someone who knew him well.

edit: although Vox's slug is how-to-be-successful, I still don't read that piece as "you too can be successful if you imitate what Elon does"

And she's already said as much:

>Extremely successful people are unlikely to be reading stuff like this.

>Surfing the 'net is a deadly time suck

He's pretty prolific on twitter: https://twitter.com/elonmusk

Producers are not necessarily consumers.

One of the most narcissistic people I know writes quite prolifically, but can't be bothered to read more than a paragraph or so of somebody else's writing.

One important thing is not everyone has an extreme personality to get this extreme success.

There is nothing wrong in NOT having extreme success.

#6 - I think that obsessively becoming all-knowing could lead to extreme success since decisions could be made with complete context therefore leading to better decisions. So in this case, reading everything online would in fact lead to extreme success.

hehe ;p

I tried it. It is a distraction. It is better to go deep than broad.

Yup. "Jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind.
