Why is AI search still bad at trust and context?

I’ve been testing a lot of AI search tools lately, and I keep running into the same three issues:Accuracy with sources — either the responses don’t cite sources at all, or when they do, the citations don’t hold up.Bias — answers are often skewed toward a certain narrative instead of presenting a balanced perspective.Context memory — tools forget what you asked a few prompts ago, which makes...

I’m curious what this community thinks: if an AI-powered search engine launched that significantly reduced hallucinations, improved transparency, and always cited its sources—would you at least give it a try and provide feedback?

I’m building exactly this, called Zyruh, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

What kind of AI product?

Right - that's what I'm thinking as well.
Yes, and this is exactly why I'm creating a tool to address the slop and inaccuracy issues.
This is great - thank you!
Thank you for your comment.

If You Could Fix One Thing About AI Search, What Would It Be?

I'm building an AI search tool (Zyruh) and I’m curious about what would truly motivate someone to leave their current AI search solution—whether that’s Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Kagi, or something else. Not small “nice-to-have” tweaks, but that one killer feature or improvement that would make you say, “Yep, I’m switching.”Examples could be:100% transparent, clickable sources for every...

Improving AI Search to Reduce Hallucinations, Bias, and Memory Loss – Feedback?

Like many here, I’m frustrated with AI search tools that make things up without clear citations, agree with everything instead of thinking critically, and forget context in longer projects.I’ve teamed up with a small dev group to build an AI search tool with real-time fact-checking, credible sources, and persistent context. What features would matter most to you — and would you be interested in...

Ask HN: What's Your Take on Perplexity AI?

Perplexity has been growing fast as an AI search tool, blending conversational answers with cited sources and real-time web data. I’m curious how the HN community sees it:Do you use it regularly, and if so, what makes it stand out from other LLMs or search engines? How do you feel about the quality, speed, and trustworthiness of its answers? Are there any drawbacks, limitations, or dealbreakers...

Thoughts on ChatGPT-5? Especially Around Accuracy, Critical Thinking, and Memory

For those who’ve been using ChatGPT-5, I’m curious how you feel about it—especially regarding three areas that seem to challenge current LLMs:Hallucinations & Transparency – Still seeing confident but wrong or outdated answers? Does it better admit “I don’t know” or distinguish facts from speculation? How are citations and real-time knowledge?Critical Thinking – Does it still feel overly...

What's Your Favorite LLM –and Why?

There’s no shortage of large language models—ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Mistral, Gemini, and more. Each has its strengths and quirks. I’m curious: which one do you find yourself using most often, and what makes it stand out for you? Is it accuracy, speed, personality, features, cost, or something else entirely? Looking forward to hearing your experiences and insights.

Makes sense. Is there another LLM you're using for this that works better than GPT?
Yeah, its irritating b/c I find myself wanting to trust - but its difficult due to its inconsistency.
No - just a frustrated consumer.
So, are you preferring a UX that feels more human?
The question is, "does it know there's a problem?"
So, what other LLMs does anyone recommend?
That's what happens when you're first to market.
LLMs need regular transparency - fact checking so the user can verify an validate accuracy.
Yes, I'm very much human...LoL.
I think we'll get there in time.
Yes, the LLMs need to be objective but in situations where its a subjective push back, the LLM would then need to take on a personality of its own.
Understood - thank you!
Interesting.
Great feedback!
In light of these issues, has anyone made a permanent switch to another LLM? If so, which one?
