Re:Ask HN: Are you tired too in this AI era? on Friday October 30, 2026 @06:08AM (#50301863)
Before writing about how I feel about AI, some ideas that sometimes help me: - plan your breaks, e.g. "1h hour of work and then go away from the computer for 5 or 10 minutes" * try to break the "just plan a little further" loop

- accept that you cannot be concentrated for hours and that reading an AI chat is mentally challenging (see first point about breaks)

- Talk with your coworkers about it. You are not alone, it is important to talk about how you feel

- set some boundarys, e.g. I don't work in parallel on different stuff

- do NOT doom scroll while the AI is "thinking". Try some meditation or mindfullnes exercises. Doom scrolling on reddit, HN or youtube will mess up your brain even more.

- from every task, try to do something on your own, and then scale this up by AI. That tip is from a former co-worker. Their idea was that you need to figure out things first and then let AI do the boring task to scale it up. Depends on the topic sadly.

- do some things by hand, especially if they are fun for you. E.g. I really like UI design, somethign that basically is gone now for me.

It feels very strange on multiple levels.

There is the tiredness of reading text all day long. The fear of loosing my coding abilities because Claude does is. I am totally loosing track of what I did when. I can tell you about things I coded 5 years ago, I cannot tell you what I did with Claude last week.

And don't get me wrong, I LOVE planning stuff out before doing that. If there is anything positive about AI, then it is people actually PLANNING before doing.

On the other hand, I can now do/try out things I did not do because I did not have time. But at the same time, it feels like I am working on making myself not needed anymore in the future.

Worst thing, I feel like I am getting dumber. My attention spans or the "I need to know why this happens" span gets shorter, because with AI everything has to be faster?! Riiight?

I don't know how this will turn out in the future.

I see people underselling themselves becoming anxious about working without AI (either because of how they think about their abilities or management pressure).

I am getting chat snippits from AI conversations via Teams, PR checks are skills now and we need 3 rounds of discussing findings with AI ...

We live in interesting times. But yeah, I am feeling with miserable about it.

Re:Patrick Stewart has died on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:08PM (#50296025)
He will always be "my" captain. The one I grew up with watching re-runs on television with my mother. Rest in peace.
Yes, I see your point, but for me it gets a new dimension when it is happening on the government level.

Yes, a company can fuck you up but you can find a new provider. But if the government of the country can control allmost all the providers prohibits them to sell their services to you, that is more serious.

Re:What goes into making an animated film? on Sunday October 25, 2026 @05:40PM (#50236315)
Hm that’s interesting, I would have thought that Pixar and Disney Animation use the same render software, but no.
I mean there are like a million reasons to replace American technology since .. well you know when...

Quite funny that the agent starts speaking with a French accent after reading French :D
I like the strumming part, could you add an option to not auto strum a chord when I do a chord change?

Interesting article, there is also youtube video by the author about it:

Ask HN: How to deal with just being a PR reviewer for LLMs nowadays

I know .. architecture is important and yes it is also fun to figure it out, but apart from that all that was fun for me is done by AI nowadays and I am basically a PR reviewer for Claude now.And I hate it. I am looking at a terminal window half of the day and have to figure out what the LLM wants to do ... depending on much Anthropic nervs the model, this can be easy or it still invents words...

Re:Where is all the new, good software? on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @04:57AM (#50068690)
I don't buy that. We see nothing.

> Software teams are capturing a lot of the speedup in the form of more leisure or quasi-leisure time. (To greatly simplify: software teams are offering 2x speedups to their companies. They're then using tools that allow them to work 10x as efficiently, and taking nice long coffee breaks.)

That is just an insult. With AI we are working more than ever, either because of "you should be faster now" or because half the people are getting layed-off ...

Re:Show HN: PS2 games statically recompiled to WebAssembly on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @03:21AM (#50067970)
At least the good thing about a hobby being a hobby is that no manager tells you what you should do.
Re:Show HN: PS2 games statically recompiled to WebAssembly on Monday October 12, 2026 @07:52AM (#50055027)
All of this recomp stuff is pretty amazing. I really don't like how AI changed my profession, but hey at least I get something good from it.
Re:Claude Opus 5.5 on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @12:55PM (#49804388)
So it Opus performs as well as Fable what is then the selling point of Fable?

All of this starts to feel more like a drug dealer selling their newest stuff.

In two weeks we probaly get Fable 5.2 with “groundbreaking” improvements, then Astra x+1 etc and then the cycle starts again.

And on the way I always have to check my tooling and need to adjust things to get max results.

Ask HN: Experiences with Anthropic's Cyber Verification Program?

Our org got allow listed by Anthropic's Cyber Verficiation Program, but we are still getting downgraded to Opus 4.8 when we want to check our own code for security problems. It is pretty annoying ... and it looks like other people are able to either circumvent this or are using different LLMs that are not like that. What are your experiences with Anthropic's Cyber Verficiation Program? Any...

Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @02:57PM (#49632135)
I tried the Samsung one with the same form factor in a store , and that is pretty nice. As someone traveling via plane or train, I can easily see myself using this and not carrying my tablet with me. However, just too expensive for my taste. I get a lot of new batteries for my current 12 pro for that price .
I guess I wouldn't use it, but I just bought two of the asset packs of the pixel artist instead.
Re:Blender 5.2 LTS on Sunday July 19, 2026 @10:38AM (#48968573)
At one of last Blender conferences, the founder (and at that time CEO) gave some insights about funding and compared it to Thunderbird. https://youtu.be/VZ5022VaMmA?si=m1hD9wEQ16s8Zu3b&t=1297 ;

Fore More recent numbers: In 2024[1] (last info I found), Blender had 3.1m € in donations (600k more than the year before) and Thunderbird had around 9m € [2].

I kind of get it, Blender is way more niche than Thunderbird, but imagine what they could do with even more money.

[1] https://download.blender.org/foundation/Blender-Foundation-A... on page 76 [2] https://blog.thunderbird.net/2025/10/state-of-the-bird-2024-... I did the money conversion based on today's exchange rates

Re:Blender 5.2 LTS on Sunday July 19, 2026 @08:28AM (#48967584)
I am using Blender since my Master thesis in 2017. It is impressive how much has happened. Also giving some money to them because they don't get that much donations (if you compare it to Thunderbird for example).
I hope for the EU to come after Sony. Before you could argue that you could buy games as a disc and just play them. It of course was a monopoly before, but now it is pretty clear

I can't take the article seriously...

Re:Mozilla Thunderbolt on Thursday April 16, 2026 @10:12AM (#47793258)
If this wouldn't be under Mozilla/Thunderbird Org on Github, I would have considered this to be fake. It looks very unsubstantial ...
Since the rise of AI systems I really wonder how people wrote code before. This is exactly how I planned out implementation and executed the plan. Might have been some paper notes, a ticket or a white board, buuuuut ... I don't know.
I am a huge fan of OpenSuperWhisper (https://github.com/Starmel/OpenSuperWhisper). Works local and is more than enough for me.
Re:The Agentic AI Handbook: Production-Ready Patterns on Wednesday January 21, 2026 @05:04AM (#46703406)
Not only is the website layout horrible to read, it also smells like the article was written by AI. My brain just screams "no" when I try to read that.
Re:Apple Creator Studio on Tuesday January 13, 2026 @02:08PM (#46606135)
Last thing I did when I was a student was to buy the Apple pro apps bundle for education. It still haven't regretted it :D

So, if you are a student, you can get logic, final cut, motion, compressor and mainStage for $199.99 for ever.

Re:Pico-Banana-400k on Sunday October 26, 2025 @04:11AM (#45709963)
Maybe it is only me, but all the emojis in the readme look like AI wrote it and instantly make stop reading it ...

Re:Apple Renames 'Apple TV+' to 'Apple TV' on Monday October 13, 2025 @01:35PM (#45571111)
After Atlassian renaming products to apps (and anything else to "work"), I thought it cannot become worse this year. I was wrong.

Apple TV+ was already confusing enought ... "No you don't need an Apple TV, it is just a name" ...

Yeah, who cares about the enviroment... who needs water and energy, if you AI agent can give you better pep talk
