I gave my T590/i7/16gb to my son.
I’m keeping my 2013 i5/4gb MacBook Pro. I love the keyboard and display. Just changed the battery. Runs great with endeavourOS!
Matter of taste.
I like eating cocoa beans.
Oddly, I cannot stand the smell of coffee.
I read somewhere that transplanted organs adopt the age of the recipient, contradicting the hopes of people who want to live forever by replacing their organs regularly.
Didn’t Putin allude to that recently ?
In any case that’d be good news, it would augment the organ availability by allowing older donors!
> Considering that aging only happens later in life,
In other news, widows outlive their husbands.
When in Rome do as the romans.
Different cultural habits can shock Japanese; this has nothing to do with race.
There are lots of ethnic Japanese, born and raised in Brazil, who went on to work & live in Japan. Many street signs in Nagoya are in Japanese and Portuguese.
However, they are direct, outspoken, have late loud parties that annoy the general population. It will take a generation to acclimate to local customs.
Must be that beyond a certain threshold (10% ?), Japanese are worried about their culture and identity.
I was introduced to ucsd pascal on apple 2 but switched to Ada by the time turbo pascal came out.
This intro is nice but I feel Ada is the way to go if one is into wirthian languages.
Chademo is a turn off though
Two days ago while fixing our 7 year old Samsung washer (a 1 cent coin blocking the drain pump impeller) I read the user manual for the first time and found out you can install an app that connects with it and “smart things “.
Not doing that !
Tried it on my 2010 iMac.
Works like a charm, interesting setup and ui choices.
Not sure I’ll stick with it but I’m impressed.
These apologetic “no fan of musk”, “before Elon became crazy” are tiresome.
You got a Tesla, just own it.
We liked the guy when he started that electric car thing, now it’s different but he’s no mass murderer.
> Was "being agentic" and "being keyboard shortcut oriented" the big gaps preventing the adoption of linux on desktop?
Of course not but dhh makes it clear omarchy is not for everybody. And that’s all right.
Katakana (the above character set representing syllables) is used for words of foreign origin, which this pastry is.
In turn it stems from French « langue de chat ».
When we shifted houses and used a Japanese moving company, I was very surprised as movers removed their shoes every time they stepped into our places, both old and new.
Oh, they also had gloves on when packing our plates and utensils!
Would a satellite positioned at Earth Moon L2 be stable enough?
It would also need a relay to communicate with earth…
I used to eat rabbit often until the 2000’s. Most butcher shops in France had rabbit, presented skinned, gutted and whole. Pretty good meat!
A colleague was even including rabbit in the «poultry» category …
Computer to Minitel ttl yes.
However the modem part was limited to those paltry figures.
I still have mine in the basement. Maybe its capacitors are all busted…time to give it a spin !
The Minitel can be used as a modem too, albeit a cumbersome and very slow one: 1200bps down, 75bps up. Bps as in bits per second.
That’s how I connected to bbses and nntp before I finally got a 2400bps real modem.
Nice project, and how far we’ve come !
When I stopped taking it, I went from 12 reps to 10, and slower recovery.
My level at tennis dropped too, but bicycle endurance remained the same.
I stopped because of high blood creatinine, and wanted to see what baseline was
> Heck written Latin didn't even have punctuation marks, not even spaces.
Without spaces, Japanese could never develop a great civilization. Pfff
> If you doubt the thesis, consider the extreme examples of Musk and Trump. they have infinite wealth and power and are demonstrably, publicly miserable.
Trump/Musk without money would be more miserable I surmise.
Still using the AVP but not exclusively, about 3 hours a day, with a hardware Bluetooth keyboard.
Mostly multiple safari windows opening on servers via webterm, cli and emacs.
It’s especially great when traveling.
Only problem, I cannot share a window when presenting…
I am spending about three hours a day using my AVP.
Not getting headaches or anything like that.
I don’t have a suitable MacBook or Mac mini so no virtual display.
For development work, I use webterm (webified ghostty) via Safari to connect to servers. Then it is emacs all the way.
It’s a real treat and I can use it anywhere.
I could hold the whole 6502 instruction set (and their cycles) in my mind while programming, it was that simple.
I acquired a Z-80 softcard for my Apple ][ (for trying out CPM) and was flabbergasted by the expanded register set, the complexity of some instructions (e.g. DJNZ) and the fact it ran at 4MHz vs 1MHz for the 6502 (got a speed demon 65C02 card later). However I couldn't keep all instructions and timings in my head. Speedwise the 1MHz 6502 and 4MHz Z80 were on par.
I preferred, however, the fact that I/O was memory mapped on the 6502.
Hollande?
Exemption for capital gains on investment property pushed from 15 to 30 years retention.
Repelled sarkozys state financing tuition for French schools abroad.
Many other examples that no self respecting right wing politician would promulgate.
Hollande was (is) socialist.
> It's 3 different right-wing administrations (Sarkozy, Hollande, Macron)
So now socialists are right wing?
Who isn’t then? Kim Jong Un maybe?
It is necessary to have a control group, just as in trials for new drugs.
Takeover of half of Papua New Guinea, now called irian Jaya.
Transmigration, that is, moving Java people there and to Borneo (Kalimantan)in order to flood local populations with Malays.
But this did not make the news that much. Not that interesting I guess…
