Indeed, Rodrigo Mahlmeister's model was absolutey impressive. It even predicted the inflection points incredibly well.
That would be devastating for the US datacenter industry.
It is strange now, but Apple made a big deal of marketing it as UNIX back then. Like at the front-page of apple.com. UNIX had a good reputation as solid and serious.
It is also sandboxed in Flatpak.
Right, because I want a stupid Cloudflare captcha before every git operation.
The poker machines are connected? Why wouldn't they just jackpot locally and indepdendently?
It's not deterministic due to implementation details in floating point numbers and order of execution.
If you ran an LLM with infinite precision and guaranteed order of execution, it would be deterministic.
(I think determinism is overrated. Being deterministic does not make LLMs more reliable or correct.)
Well, if Robert O'Callahan reads your post, I am pretty positive he will think he made the right choice.
And they would have to be confident that you wouldn't cheat on it.
People have been using LLMs for two year. It's not just this week's LLM release that is capable something.
> Maybe the matching-funds donor is all peachy and clean. Maybe they're the root of all evil.
Money going from the root of all evil to the Internet Archive?
Two cakes.
Is it?
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. [I]t is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
This guy is pretty influential in at least half the globe.
"IBM Bob? Certainly they have a license deal with Microsoft to release Bob for OS/2"
The website represents this well. My random person was born in the Neolithic and lived to 68. Not bad.
There are entire countries where it's not a thing to use PayPal. Way too many people were scammed out of their money by them. In general you don't give your credit card number to random sites - it mostly goes to Stripe and similar services.
Gemini is the best general-purpose model. We hear a lot about the other ones here because we are focusing on coding.
There is an entire graveyward of browsers, almost all that didn't die are now forgotten.
Haha, no. For a while, many years ago, it seemed TUIs were indeed on the way out, but then they were relived by the awesome work of people who wrote GPU-accelerated terminals, widget libraries, who extended terminals with more colors and the ability to show Unicode and graphics.
I salute you, heros.
RAM follows the logic of cyclical commodities, going through cycles of under/over investments that lead to spikes and crashes.
Why would it play the compressed version if it had the decompressed audio right there though?
For reference: I had a 486 DX2 66 MHz, and I played MP3s by decoding them in batch to PCM and then playing that as it couldn't really do that in real time. Perhaps only if you didn't do anything else and the MP3 was low bitrate enough and ideally mono.

Young me would have loved to know that there was a cheat code in Ecco for the Mega Drive... I loved the vibes of the game but could never get far.
There's a chance that the real reason why they want to ban Chinese models is that they are so good at fixing bugs and preventing exploits that intelligence agencies have been using for espionage and surveillance for a long time.
I don't know about Chatgpt but I used Kimi (they have a Chinese-only plugin that does desktop control - works fine if you enable it even if you don't know Chinese). Observing how it works, it's mostly using the accessibility features of the user interfaces - it fetches a sort of DOM for the desktop applications. Only rarely it has to take a screenshot.
I hope you are unsuccessful in your authoritarian, dystopian enterprise.
Indeed, I want the information between commits for myself, so I see the utility. But I don't want people observing every keystroke.
People have heuristics. My heuristics is that AI slop in images -> slop in the text, whether AI or not.
It will be wrong sometimes, but mostly it's not. OP has a point.
I have been using Kimi for months. It did get superslow after the K3 launch, then they blocked signups and normalized the service.
It's not ideal that people can't join but as a user I am happy that they focused on serving existing customers.
The Linux kernel adopted Bitkeeper before git and it never spread out from there. It's not that many people working on the kernel.
git growth was very symbiotic with GitHub growth. I don't remember why GitHub became popular in the first place. I think it was the Ruby community? GitHub was one of their own during an explosion of Ruby on Rails and successful startups using it.
