Probably a good idea if you work with sensitive data (and you’re already on Zero Data Retention)

I’m also a physicist, and I do worry about physics. I’ve already had a few successful sessions with Claude and Astra where they came up with useful ideas in my field. I still know what to ask for and nudge them where it matters, but I fear it’s going to be a few short months before they can decide that too, unassisted.

My late neighbour Tullio (wonderful old man, clock maker) once told me that when he was a kid he cared for a chick crow and they went on to be friends for many years. For example he would ride his bike to work in the morning and the crow would accompany him along the way, and then back home in the evening. What a magical frienship.

You can’t diagonalize a generic matrix by adding a rank 1 matrix. That holds only for dimension 2.

I’m not in any way aware of how macOS is architected, but aren’t all these inconsistencies (like different app icons, different menu styles, different window corners etc) pointing to bad code design? There should be one shared source of truth for what needs to be consistent.

I’ve tried to keep up with “best practices” around AI use, but things are improving so quickly that I’ve largely given up. The vanilla agents are just fine for my needs as they come.

I don’t think so: the ELO rating difference is what matters, e.g. a 1000 player vs an 800 player has the same win probability as a 2800 vs a 2600.

Exactly. Is that figure about the water 'flowing' through the datacenter? I want to believe they would not just dump it after use.

I agree, but like many others I'm willing to pay a fair price for that freedom and ownership, and I believe there is a customer base to be captured. And in the end there's a cost for a company to put all of those locks in place, which they could simply avoid.
