Interesting preprint about a computability paradox in AGI.

It can be an exciting reading even for non-expert people since there is a non-technical introduction in the beginning with clear explanations about the result, the assumptions involved and their justifications as well as a reason why this result is novel (i.e. why it is not a simple application of the Halting problem).

Re:Use Gröbner Bases to Solve Polynomial Equations on Sunday April 30, 2023 @05:01PM (#35766593)
Roughly speaking, Gröbner bases is used for symbolic computations while homotopy continuation is used for numeric computation of roots

I think you'll enjoy Matrix Analysis and Applied Linear Algebra from Carl Meyer: http://matrixanalysis.com/

Almost every topic is illustrated with an application or illustrative example, and the applications are very interesting.

Just reinforcing that you are not a loser, but a worthy and loved person. Have a blessed weekend :)

Thanks! Always wanted a PDF reader with these features :)
Re:Draw an iceberg and see how it would float in water on Saturday February 20, 2021 @11:30PM (#26210811)
Very cool! It would be nice to use it for showing how a figure bounded by a Zindler curve [1] and with half the density of water will float in water in any position.

Thank you, you have helped to make it more clear for me!
In Brazil there is Mão3D (3D hand), an university project which helps kids with 3D printed prostheses: https://mao3d.wordpress.com/

They are currently seeking funding with a crowdfunding platform kickante: https://www.kickante.com.br/campanhas/uma-mao-literalmente-m...

"Mathematical Omnibus: Thirty Lectures on Classic Mathematics " Very accessible and covering a broad range of topics.
Hopefully this topology book will be in the same style: https://bookstore.ams.org/text-58

This model always reminds me of Nelson's parking problem:

https://rigtriv.wordpress.com/2007/10/01/parallel-parking/

From the README.MD:

This is the first version of a tool to estimate the possible location of a missed person at Brumadinho/MG. At this city, a huge Dam Burst occured recently and many people died and many more are missing.

The Brumadinho dam disaster occurred on 25 January 2019, when a tailings dam at an iron ore mine in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, Brazil suffered a catastrophic failure.

This tool requires the latitude and longitude coordinates to calculate the estimative based on the tailing flows.

The algorithm still needs to be improved (so much!). Also, we built it with few data that we had got. To improve it, we need tailings physical-chemical data, topographic map (.csv) of the place, simulations of the reject spreading, and, of course, the latitude and longitude coordinates from the victims' cell phone.
