Re:The Agent SDK on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:37PM (#50278789)
What if I'm trying to bypass the security monitor built-into CC?
Re:Gemini 4 Carbon on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:26PM (#50278600)
my anecdotal experience is that argon and muse wonder full are both a full tier below opus/sol.
Re:Gemini 4 Carbon on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:30PM (#50277401)
Especially since at least to me, Argon is a clear tier below current Claude and Sol.
Re:Apple Mac Studio M5 Ultra with 512GB of Memory, ~$23k on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:20PM (#50277156)
Apple has their 512GB Mac studio page up, about $23k.
The command line tooling lets you/AI manage a lot of your app store interactions though. It's much easier to use that way then trying to deal with the Steamworks UI and doing things manually.
Re:Genie 4 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @09:49PM (#50268391)
Yes, Opus 5.5 can build out quite a bit on its own that is super impressive when you first look at it. But spending just a couple minutes will make you realize dozens of things that are off.
Re:New iMac with M6 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:51AM (#50260273)
The M5 Ultra with 256GB went from a early Dec estimated delivery to Feb now. I wonder what the 512GB lead time will be.
Configuration and maybe prompting problem in my experience. Are you doing the prompting or are you letting claude or something do it?
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:12PM (#50074061)
Finally, gemini 3.8 has been falling way behind opus and sol in my experience. It's showing up in my antigravity. My work account though still has 3.6, 3.8, 3.1.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @01:16PM (#49896777)
I can blow through my weekly on astra in a few hours; hopefully this really is as good.
Re:Show HN: Make cursed fonts like Times New Bastard on Thursday September 24, 2026 @04:54PM (#49836597)
Really fun op!
Re:Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @09:28AM (#49726734)
I've got the 100 paid to all 3, gemini and chatgpt are a level above claude for a lot of my work now. claude i actually fight with if its not just write code.
Re:No Man's Sky Cosmos on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @12:33PM (#49629213)
no matter what, that always happens with this game. Any news about it causes the people who played for 10 minutes at launch however long ago come back to tell you how much they didn't like it.
Something I've noticed in a couple hobbies on youtube, is that the popular channels are not the ones that show up when I search. Like for cars, there ar 2 particular youtubers who show up all over search results, but amongst the car community you will never hear people talk about watching their videos.
Re:Credit Card Rewards Became a $9.2B Wealth Transfer on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @08:20AM (#49432704)
Car mechanics, dealerships, house fixing contractors, city (property taxes), these are the ones that I can think of in the past year I've come across charging a fee for credit card payments. What's most irritating is that most of them do not setup for and drop the fee if you pay by debit card.
Re:The Amazon Tax on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @01:09PM (#49348881)
Etsy is even worse for sponsored ads, way worse.
The idea that they got an archive of my coworkers tickets that just say "its broke", is amusing.
Re:Quake Shareware, a CD-ROM just a little too full on Monday August 17, 2026 @08:15PM (#49339496)
I remember Microsoft had a time limited version of Office on cd-rom that was sold for a couple bucks at Kinko's. You could replace a .dll in it and that removed the time limit.
Steams policy means that Marvel Heroes, a game that was shutdown and its developer closed, can still be downloaded by prior owners and used on the private servers.

Kind of interesting but I also had a game on GOG that got delisted and had to get a refund because it got removed.

I recall installing Slackware from floppy.
Re:I Don't Maintain My Homelab on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @07:58AM (#48745304)
I used to think of my home setup as a homelab but I've realized for about 4 years now I barely do anything with it beyond what it's supposed to do. I just have some basic services running, most time spent over the last 4 years has to do with broadcom acquiring vmware so I had to switch to Proxmox, and then just moving houses and having to setup again.
Re:Librepods: AirPods liberated from Apple's ecosystem on Sunday June 28, 2026 @05:37PM (#48711924)
There was some problem with the first gen that you would hear static, Apple replaced those if you contacted support. Happened to me just before end of 1 yr warranty and kinda funny but they had me mail in my airpods to be replaced and lost them. So they ended up sending me a new pair and iirc $100 gift card for the trouble.

Re:I Hate (Most) Keyboard 'Fn' Keys on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @09:53AM (#48476303)
I find the "wrong" FN keyboards annoying like OP, but the Home/End to Pgup/Dn grouping of keys is what really makes or breaks a great keyboard layout for me.
I read the whole thing, found this fascinating.
Re:Hand Drawn QR Codes on Tuesday May 05, 2026 @08:57AM (#48021928)
Anyone else scan their random junk that has QR codes to see where it goes? I've found a fair number of stuff has codes that do nothing. Bought an extra garage door opener remote, qr code on it does nothing. Got some SwitchBot gear, qr codes do absolutely nothing.
Re:MacBook Neo Is a 'Shock' to the PC Industry: Asus Co-CEO on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @09:08PM (#47344951)
