I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing that. It feels that aside from the regular new LLM releases, there has been no serious innovation for the past four years.
I'm not even talking about holographic game consoles or FTL travel. Why can't we finally have a good container orchestrator that's not kubernetes for example?
I will be happy to put up with CRT screens if that's what it takes.

Better hack: learn to draw. End of the story.
I didn't provide a diagnosis, I pointed out that this was a symptom shared by multiple medical conditions. The difference may seem small but it is nonetheless crucial.
Also if I wasn't incredibly anti-social, I wouldn't be on this site in the first place.
A thing I've discovered too late, but going to a dentist in a shitty neighborhood actually resulted in better care in my experience.
I was basically scammed thousands (and a teeth) by a dentist from Paris 17th (posh part of the city) who was only interested in maxing out my insurance and taking half my salary on top of it. On a tip from a colleague I went to a dentist located deep into a suburb you wouldn't want to walk around at night. Not only they did an amazing job fixing the previous guy's shitty work, but it didn't cost me anything.
Somehow I have a bit of reach on it. I don't really read the feed or even check messages anymore tho.
Cool website design but I will strongly remain in the "nothing ever happens" camp.
If you need good ideas, don't ask HN, you won't find any of that here.
Sit down with no distractions other most a pen and a piece of paper, for an hour and write down your ideas. Next day, check if your ideas suck, and if they do (they probably do), repeat step 1.
Also a quick note about entrepreneurship: stop thinking of opening "side business". If you want to succeed, the business has to become your main thing, any job you keep to put food on the table has to become the "side job".
I agree that clear cut life objectives are important. This generates a competing interest which is the best way to defeat any addiction.
But working on non-impactful personal projects is also not as bad as doomscrolling twitter. Personal projects are a good way to build skill and grow your own confidence. Twitter doesn't build anything of significance.
Try meditation.
If you're completely new to the idea I suggest the book With Each & Every Breath by Thanassiro Bikkhu. It's a Therevada Buddhist book but the breathing meditation instructions in it can be applied even if you want to ignore the other parts of the book.
Luddites were making a praiseworthy point.

I'm going to let you in on an open secret of the industry: a lot of SaaS companies were already zombies, only running around because of the large amount of debt they managed to obtain during the ZIRP era.
I am self-employed but I'm tempted to replicated buffer in-house for my social media management. I feel that they are adding a bunch of pointless features while the core of the product is less and less stable.
I'm working on my second commercial game. It's called Paradox Tower.
The game is meant to look like a retro RPG, but it's more of a puzzle about finding the optimal path. You must grab as many power ups as you can to level up your stats, while avoiding monsters to conserve your health.
It's inspired by a niche genre of puzzle/RPG called Magic Towers. If you already know Desktop Dungeon, Soulestination or Tactical Nexus, it's kinda the same idea.
We've got a Steam page up and the demo has been available for a few weeks. Try it out, it's pretty fun: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4142360/Paradox_Tower/
Cool stuff, I had not noticed it.
I have simply cared about "optimizing output" long ago. Ironically, I think I ship a lot more stuff than people who waste all their time optimizing their life away.
Somehow in the Netherlands it seems we have mostly managed to escape this. But it's just because people didn't really put any decoration on their menus before, and no decoration is still cheaper than shit AI decorations.
This is fun but you need to put "click the line" higher on the page. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at.
It's basically every game targetting consoles. Good luck finding any real infos about the Nintendo SDK API on Google.
I got one of those random 2auth codes email and I assumed my password had been compromised. At least it's some kind of relief to know that it's only a compromised Microsoft email address...
> Should we stop giving fun test tasks to our job candidates?
Yes
This site really has become a parody of itself.

Might? They have had that for a year at least. Plus an entire office block of slave workers in Cambodia.

Seasonality of mood and behavior in the Old Order Amish (Raheja & al), shows reduced rates of Seasonal Affective Disorder in the Amish population.
So at least they are quite happy during winter.
Holy fuck that is really cool
