Might be a bit offtopic, but I really like that it feels like a real human wrote this blog post. I'm reading way too many blog posts, along with GitHub PRs and Issues, that just seem AI generated. This style of writing is just nice
This wasn‘t recommended officially by the authors, right? I saw it on someone‘s codeberg fork but not on the official repo
Zedeus said "it's hopefully temporary, but it'll remain that way until further notice." in the matrix room
I thought about it from functioning perspective, but yeah, legally it might‘ve been a bit dubious
Re:Nitter is unarchived and will continue on Sunday September 06, 2026 @04:12PM (#49590405)
Sorry, didn‘t see it in the search before I submitted it
Nitter itself is still fine, there are like 2 public-ish instances I‘m aware of but I think people should go out and host some in more private communities/run one over Tor or something
Re:Ask HN: Alternatives to GitHub on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @12:43PM (#49348425)
Forgejo, and by extent Codeberg, has the punchcard-like feature, it‘s just hidden under „Public activity“ on the profile page
Re:Ask HN: Alternatives to GitHub on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @12:39PM (#49348336)
My gitea instance was only ~6 DB migrations beyond where Forgejo was at when I decided to switch, so I just undo‘d those and upgraded anyways. Works just fine, but I was really lucky that they weren‘t any big migrations. I guess isn‘t really as feasible anymore.
Re:99% of My Website Traffic Is Bots on Monday August 10, 2026 @09:53AM (#49243688)
Not sure, I couldn‘t find those fingerprints anywhere and I couldn‘t replicate them in any browser I had access to (Safari iOS, Windows & Linux Firefox & Chromium), so I decided to block them. I haven‘t had a single person complain yet. Their UA are usually the most random ones you can find (who uses a PPC mac nowadays?)
+1, but I think the documentation surrounding this should be a bit better. I didn‘t know they did this until I read that comment
He said OpenAI in the comment (if I read it correctly)

Regarding the residental botnets: check their TLS fingerprint, they usually (at least from my experience) have the same few JA4 hashes that don‘t match with modern browsers

Re:YouTube, your RSS feeds are broken on Wednesday May 06, 2026 @04:35AM (#48033761)
this article hasn't been loading for me for about 3 hours, here's an archive.org link: https://web.archive.org/web/20260506043414/https://openrss.o...
I only know of the one text file MKDEV added to their Persona bypass: https://pastebin.com/hps67mkh
what server are you connected to? Switzerland works just fine for me
Re:Ban me at the IP level if you don't like me on Monday August 25, 2025 @08:06AM (#45012956)
I run an instance of a downloader tool and had lots of chinese IPs mass-download youtube videos with the most generic UA. I started with „just“ blocking their ASNs, but they always came back with another one until I just decided to stop bothering and banned China entirely. I‘m confused on why some chinese ISPs have so many different ASNs - while most major internet providers here have exactly one.
Re:XTool – Cross-platform Xcode replacement on Saturday May 17, 2025 @08:34AM (#44013828)
you can still install xcode - and also still use imessage if you configure your vm correctly, see kholia/OSX-KVM
I really love how verbose and up to date the UK with tech
Re:10k Bounty for Rewriting Prettier in Rust on Monday November 13, 2023 @02:23AM (#38247816)
Why does everything need to be written in rust these days?
Re:You can't download this image on Saturday November 27, 2021 @03:43PM (#29363192)
copy the not finished download file in your downloads folder (for me lisa.jpg.crdownload) and name it lisa.jpg
