Re:ADHD, autism or complex trauma? [pdf] on Thursday October 08, 2026 @08:51PM (#50014601)
Failed school, failed exams felt miserable at the time and always thought i was a failure. Got abused (physically, psychologically) by one parent when growing up. I succeeded later but struggled a lot, still do. When i untangled the whole spaghetti i first got a diagnosis of ADHD, then giftedness (which probably helped somehow) but also Autism and Bipolar disorder 2.

This to me was such a relief. I was able to get support, treatment and stop blaming myself for being a failure. It’s a daily fight though. There are comorbidities, anxiety, etc.

Now I am a happy father and my daughter will never get the generational trauma that was passed on to me and my siblings

Was in the middle of a server firewall change and reboot, killed the kernel, booted me out. Had to sweat the recovery a bit.

Read it a few years back and found some answers. Generational trauma does exists I believe. As for the article I think it claimed the whole theory was BS without much backing arguments
Re:My thoughts on renting versus buying on Sunday September 14, 2025 @05:48PM (#45243579)
Being 47 and still renting I think the piece missed a big issue, which is most prevalent these days: we cannot afford to buy. Anything. Anywhere. I reckon I’m fatally doomed to renting.
Re:High Altitude Living – 8,000 ft and above (2021) on Sunday September 14, 2025 @05:11PM (#45243282)
Worked for four months as a mountain bike guide on the death road in La Paz. 3600 meters to 4800 getting to the start of the road to about 1000 meters each day, and back. I believe I made many blood cells and nearly died 3 times
Re:De-Clouding: Music on Friday September 12, 2025 @03:30AM (#45219612)
Been using Plexamp off a NAS at home that serves music throughout the house (Apple TVs, Plex) or in the car, or anywhere for that matter.
Another issue with Apple and I’m a fully invested die hard. 25 years now. But this is taking too far, I might start looking somewhere else. Fuck this.
Re:The false promise of WiFi 7 on iPhone 16 models on Friday September 05, 2025 @10:17AM (#45138894)
iPhone 16 and 16 pro promised to support WiFi 7 but tests show speeds comparable to iPhone 15 pro. A hidden limitation which does not use the 320 MHz bandwidth. It is unknown if Apple will ever deliver a fix or update to support it.
Re:The Browser Company (Arc, Dia) Has Been Acquired by Atlassian on Thursday September 04, 2025 @02:22PM (#45130486)
Been an Atlassian consultant for a while and I just left (Rather I was let go) from an established Atlassian partner, and I can only feel relief. I was always more of a data center on prem person and all this cloud nonsense has been going nowhere, except for them. Those acquisitions are always half baked and you *might see some of it somewhere in a product. All I can say is I’m happy I’m no longer doing Atlassian consulting.
Virtue signalling, hand wrangling and mostly jostling in international affairs. Nothing of consequence. Just daily business
I hate YouTube, Google, Meta and all their products with a passion. Well deserved.
Re:Ultra-Rapid Vision in Birds on Wednesday July 30, 2025 @02:26PM (#44737819)
Echoing to this perhaps, I heard birds can react 13 times faster than we do, which is especially useful in flight with hundreds or thousands of other birds.

Very interesting we’ve had infestations here (France) while I was living in the south, adding biogents moquitaire traps is also successful as a complement, April onwards to October. But I love the name bucket of death. Tiger mosquitoes are such an annoyance
