Re:I Won't Download Your App. The Web Version Is A-OK on Monday April 06, 2026 @02:46PM (#47665110)
How often do you need to push app updates in practice? In theory that's a one-off deployment on the app-stores.
The fact that the WebVM linked inside can connect to tailscale is pretty cool:

FYI, if any devs are around, the privacy policy still links to the gitbook.
What's the insinuation here? He has willpower towards injustice.

It still surprises me how everyone was closing their Russian based stores when they invaded Ukraine, but here's a much worse situation and it's business as usual...

Slightly off-topic, surveillance Pricing is a term being used more often, whereby even hotel room prices vary based on where you're booking from, what terms you searched for etc.

Here's a short video on the subject:

Another one a parent strongly recommended was Numberblocks, entertaining stories around maths, visualizing patterns etc.

How do you feed them large code bases usually?
[delayed]
It actually does, there's a number on the top-right, right of Auto. Goes from 9[1] to 154, and then 154 2.0x zoom which seems like a digital zoom at that stage[2].

Reminds me of KBB.com who were "unable" to remove my personal data after they determined I'm not in California.

They share your phone/email with lots of dealers if you request a quote and don't read the fine print like I didn't...

Re:Apple Introduces AirTag on Wednesday April 21, 2021 @11:06AM (#26890611)
Oh it's absolutely a hack for the better-than-having nothing scenario :)

My main issue was remembering to charge the old phone every few days as I'm not in need of this regularly, so more of an occasional thing like to an unfamiliar place/country, or on a trip to Disney.

Re:Apple Introduces AirTag on Tuesday April 20, 2021 @02:27PM (#26878844)
Stick an old phone into their pocket/bagpack, sim ideal but not required.

Connect that phone to your phone hotspot, so you can turn on your hotspot and, if the phone connects, it's nearby plus you can use Find My to track it from there, play sound... etc.

Bonus if you have access to e.g. XFinity or whichever is the most prevalent free wifi around, so your phone can come online occasionally.

I assume it's also jailing kids for peace, and stirring the hornet's nest doesn't sound very peaceful when there are peace talks coming up on the same subject.

They might have the better PR team, but for sure looking at actions rather than just words, it's clear who's the bad guy putting aside the whole typical "our ally" narrative.

Great to know, thank you!
I understand that each person is different, but how long does the therapy go for until someone becomes "immune"? I see other comments mentioning 20-30 years, which sounds a lot more expensive than having to take the medieval equivalent for just as long.

I hope I'm wrong!

Re:Local PDF Tools – Powered by WebAssembly on Tuesday March 02, 2021 @10:49PM (#26324519)
Can one easily install such apps as a Chrome app/PWA, and deactivate access to the internet since it doesn't need it and one can merge personal PDFs?
This series, for reverse engineering a multi-player game that's meant to be hacked:

Very very nice PWA, it feels like a native app.

This would serve as a great example to people, thank you!

Re:Show HN: Monitor your internet speed with a Raspberry Pi on Tuesday September 22, 2020 @12:44PM (#24556734)
The discrepancy could be due to where the Pi is located as Wifi signal can vary dramatically and different chips handle things better. I thought my ISP was to blame till I tried connecting to the router via Ethernet. I got myself a 5Ghz router as there was a lot of noise on shared channels with neighbors. I went from ~15Mbps to 108Mbps.

Ask HN: Can we add a mute microphone multimedia key?

Hello guys,While exploring the idea of making a big USB mute button, I found out OSs (Windows/Mac at least) don't easily support the ability to mute the microphone as it does with sound output.Multimedia keyboards have a key even for launching your email client but we now more modern needs for having a physical button to un/mute the Mic in any type of headset/built-in microphone would greatly...

I run both, along with docker on a Pi Zero and there's still some RAM to spare.
