Totally agree. Desktop app is more fit place for HTML5 than mobile. node-webkit is awesome and it can also benefit from the improvement of node and chromium.

Thank you. I would say it's a buzz word from the recruiters. However, it's interesting to hear Ari said he built the app from hardware, OS, frontend, backend, etc as a full stack development in the episode.
Thank you. Sorry I mess that.

Awesome work! I do love the quality of this speaker especially with such price. Thank you!
Cool, :) So you start a smtpd to catch your mails and do the test. That's also how MailCatcher(
http://mailcatcher.me) works. If it's fine to start a smtpd, it's a good choice too!
mails_viewer can do 1 and 2. The default usage will not send out emails at all. But if you want, you can. So it's preview and conditional send.
mail_view requires you to write additional code. The pro is that you can preview it lively without doing the action again. The con is that you have to write the scenario for preview.
@mr_november Thanks for read. You can directly get the codes at the github. Tomlion is my former colleague and I worked with him on this project at the beginning. And now I'm the only maintainer and you can see the changes via the commits. But true it's better to write the changes in the README. Thanks.
SublimeVideo is what RailsCasts using now. So you should be very familiar with how it works, :)

Thanks for the invitation. I'm glad to have the chance to try it today. It works great and definitely will be my first choice for mockup when starting a new web app. Thanks again!
Thanks for the stats share. And the nice app too, :)
Finish it, even if you're a potential competitor of my product
https://pragmatic.ly, :)
I enjoy building Pragmatic.ly and learning a lot from the process meanwhile. I believe you will too as long as you keep iterating.
I like the design, simple and clean.
The title sounds inflated but you win me, :)
You're not alone. I feel bad about the release. It's ok that VMware release 5. But the problem is when you have version 4.1 , why you directly release 5 instead of 4.2? The Fusion 3 is release after Fusion 2.0.6 and I paid the upgrade fee. And then Fusion 4 is out after Fusion 3.1 and I paid the upgrade fee too. Thanks a lot VMware!
BTW, it only costs $29 to upgrade to Lion and $19 to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
There are many and many tricks about how to play with HN and force me to follow the tricks.
Usually I read HN news via RSS reader and glad with the quality of feeds. So in this case it's not bad to provide me the good contents to read. But I do agree that there are also many interesting posts in /newest when I started to submit the posts myself. There are no perfect solution but I hope there would be a better-work solution.
BTW, I posted a question on news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4412393 and want to know whether there are any places for me to get into segmented articles. It doesn't have to be in frontpage as long as it's related. It's ideal but would like to see what happens.
Thanks for the information!
Yeah, activity is the problem if do a HN-like site because the community of HN is great and can't be copied. So I wonder whether there are any sites which segment the articles in HN. And also it can be the window to show the community what happened in that segment(country).
BTW, for HN-like specific to China, tea.tisiwi.com is another experiment.

Do you know whether there are any segmented HackerNews? The articles should be from HN or synchronized with HN but with segmented by countries such as US/UK/etc or targeted markets? So it will let people know more about that segmentation.
Thanks for the information. We'll definitely check it out.

@rickmb Thanks. Not natively supported by Firefox is bad. However, at least the firefox user can install the extension to make it work. IE is another story. I hope it can be supported in later version of IE 10.
Those two specs are not competing. Both Chrome and Safari supports both. But the implementation of FF extension is based on the old spec and that's why I say it's better to stick in old spec now to give users the consistent user experience.
Again, thanks for reading and commenting.
@sp332 Thanks for the info. Yup, if you install the offline Gmail, it will still check in the background when Chrome is closed. This background feature is only available to Chrome apps or extensions but not to the web pages.
Web Notification is only available when you have page opened.
There are many solutions of pubsub in web server, such as push notification in iOS. So once your web server can push messages to the client, you can send the notification to 'Notification Center'.

It's different. While momentjs focus on date parsing, manipulating and formatting, smart-time-ago is the lib to update the relative timestamps in time on the page.
It depends on the application itself. For pages which user will only stay for few minutes, no much more efficiency gained. But for realtime apps which user will keep the page open for hours/days, it will improve a lot. And for apps which have more read than write, it will also improve a lot.
BTW, I'm not sure whether I catch you about the "extra code". It's a replacement with less than 1KB difference in size.
