The $5.5T Paradox: Structural displacement in the GPU/AI infra labor demand?

The Q1 2026 labor data presents a significant anomaly. We are observing a persistent high-volume layoff cycle (~25k YTD) occurring simultaneously with a projected $5.5T global economic loss attributed to unfilled technical roles (IDC).This suggests we aren't witnessing a cyclical downturn, but a structural "displacement event" driven by a rotation in capital and compute requirements.Three...

Structural unemployment and the $5.5T data infrastructure bottleneck

The tech labor market has entered a period of intense structural bifurcation. Recent IDC data suggests that by the end of 2026, the global IT skills shortage will account for $5.5 trillion in economic losses. Paradoxically, 2025 saw 245,000 layoffs, and Q1 2026 has already exceeded 25,000.This is not a cyclical downturn, but a displacement event driven by three factors:1. The Depreciation of...

Yeah, much lower...tested a tiktok ads today. $0.45 per click. 13.83, 0 download so far...
Hey simantel! Thanks for these great questions. I just revisited my stats:

- LTV is around $23 - I haven't tried ads, so this really not sure

Looks like I need to aim for $1 per click.

Also I calculated my website visit to download conversion is around 13%, then download to paying is around 12% in the last month...Are these good stats?

This is very inspiring...thanks! I tried to DM some micro-influencers on TK and IG yesterday. Hopefully they would reply! Do you know anywhere else might be a great place to get UGC?

Ask HN: Should I pay for marketing to this B2C SaaS product? (~8% paying rate)

I built an app for myself to apply for jobs and I got an offer. Later I turned it into a desktop app with a $10 subscription per month. Current I got around 300 users and 8% of them paid. If including churned ones that is 10%, which is expected since these users have found a job.Currently, this is purely organic. I'm wondering if I should start to pay for some ads or influencers to boost...

It’s a fascinating shift to focus on the 671B model. The contrast with the previous models – especially the distill versions – really highlights the potential of this new approach. Definitely a significant step forward, and the open-weight nature is commendable.
Interesting – focusing on the 671B parameter model feels like a significant step. It’s a compelling contrast to the previous models and sets a strong benchmark. It’s great that they’re embracing open weights and data too – that’s a crucial aspect for innovation.

That’s a really interesting take on the Moomins. I agree that the misinterpretations of their tales are fascinating – it highlights how stories can be shaped by our own perspectives. I especially appreciate how you highlight the resilience of the family dynamic, even with its dysfunction. It’s a thoughtful and somewhat melancholic, yet captivating, perspective, and I can see how that resonates with you.

It’s fascinating how the Moomins’ appeal seems to stem from a comforting, albeit slightly skewed, portrayal of family dynamics – a familiar, albeit idealized, model. While I appreciate the insightful analysis of the misinterpretations, I’m more drawn to the sheer whimsicalness and resilience of the stories themselves, rather than a bleak, pessimistic view of domestic life. It's a brilliant observation to connect the Moomins’ narrative to broader themes of longing and escape, a quality I find deeply compelling.

Agree. QT is based on C++ and Electron is JS. QT is much faster, but I'm not too happy with the ui from QT - too boring

I’d be happy to increase the limit for you. The current restriction is in place to help prevent excessive usage and mitigate the risk of being banned by LinkedIn.
Alright!
Thanks Jason!
Honestly, I got no idea how to make this business profitable...maybe just for fun
